Asian millennials have been changing the social, economic and political landscape of Asia for a while. But their influence is still growing as their careers and disposable income increase. This means for years ahead, the largest, most affluent, most influential demographic will continue to change the very fiber of Asia. So yes you should be paying attention.
Research firm Asia Insight has spent a lot researching millennials across the content and have some pretty interesting data for marketers, governments and really anyone who cares to understand how they’ll change the future.
Interestingly the countries in Asia with the highest percentage of millennials are Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Philippines and Vietnam. However in absolute terms India, China, the United States, Indonesia, and Brazil have the world’s largest Millennial populations.
Millennials are very different consumers than their parents. They’re far more tech savvy, better educated and have different motivating factors. Understanding the needs, wants, interests and desires of the world’s largest cohort is critically important.
