China and ASEAN Forge New Ties

Earlier this week the The 10th China-ASEAN Expo was held in Nanning, Guangxi. To mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership the Expo was attending by high level delegations from ASEAN Member States and the Chinese government in addition to purchasing delegations from around the world.

This year, 4600 exhibition booths were on offer with 1294 booths booked by ASEAN businesses. Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam also reserved separate exhibition halls. This shows that trade doesn’t just flow from China outward, but that ASEAN and China’s economic ties feature the bilateral movement of capital and goods. And because of this, the rest of the world is noticing.

The number of visitors hit new highs this year with nearly 120 purchasing delegations and investment delegations in attendance. This was 1.6 times that of last year. The number of professional visitors from the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and South American and Middle East countries also surpassed previous years.
