Hong Kong is Cooking Up the Ultimate Foodie Event

In a city that’s as serious about food and wine as Hong Kong, every day is a gastronomic feast, but there are 4 days out of the year where the city takes its culinary obsession to an even higher level, that’s the American Express Wine and Dine Festival. This year is the fifth time the city has hosted Asia and the world’s most discerning foodies and wine lovers, but this year also marks the first time that the event with be at the New Central Harbourfont.  Overlooking Victoria Harbour, the New Central Harbourfront was created from harbour reclamation and is designed to be the centerpiece of Hong Kong’s iconic waterfront. It’s perfect location for a foodie event.

Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, this annual event achieved instant worldwide recognition in its inaugural year in 2009, when it was named by ForbesTraveler.com as one of the world’s top 10 international food and wine festivals. Last year the Wine & Dine Festival attracted 188,000 people from Hong Kong, Asia and the world who consumed a whopping 32,000 bottles of wine. Clearly this festival shows how Hong Kong, Asia’s World City, has become the epicenter for food, wine and luxury in Asia.

HKG 2 Hong Kong is a shinning example of how interconnected and integrated Asian business and values can be with the rest of the world. Hong Kong serves as a commercial and cultural gateway for Asia to the world and the world into Asia. This year’s Wine & Dine Festival continues to reflect city’s unique global position as a premiere luxury destination by adding the Tasting Room, a new premium area where patrons can enjoy wine pairing dinners with master chefs, wine and food appreciation master classes and talks from prestigious industry experts.

We think the success of the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival demonstrates the tremendous potential for western food, wine and luxury brands in Asia and it reflects well on a city that is built around a penchant for living well. As Asia rises, Hong Kong seems dedicated to staying on the leading edge of this phenomenon.

The American Express Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival runs from October 31st to November 4th this year and we’ll have our team live on the ground to cover all of the sights, sounds and delicious smells.
