Kazakhstan and the Future of Energy

There’s a revolution going on in Kazakhstan. The world’s largest landlocked country which dominates Central Asia has been blessed with an abundance of natural resources. Petroleum, natural gas and mining accounts for around 57% of the nation’s industrial output or 13% of gross domestic product. But despite this Kazakhstan has emerged as a global leader in the green economy.

One of the more exciting initiatives which Asia Rising is a media partner in, is #NEWENERGY global startup fest which is an international contest to connect startups, investors and experts in clean tech and renewable energy.

The contest is organized with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and organized by JSC Informational and Analytical Center of Oil and Gas. It will be held on October 27, 2016 in Astana the country’s shining capital. Its main objective is to attract and share innovative ideas in clean tech.

The premise is really simple, 100 startup companies from around the world will present their vision of alternative and renewable energy sources, climate and ecology, smart cities and sustainable infrastructure, usage of water resources, new production technologies and methods to a panel of experts who will vote for 30 best startups. The 30 winners will have a chance to present their company’s vision at Astana EXPO-2017, a leading energy event.

We will be providing coverage throughout and expect some great ideas to emerge. Startups from the US, India, Denmark, Turkey, Israel, Ukraine, Australia, Serbia, Angola, Poland, Kazakhstan, Ireland, France, UK, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Canada, Indonesia, Russia, Latvia, UAE and more have already applied.

If you want your company to be a part you can submit an application online at #NEWENERGY global startup fest web-site. Submissions are open until October 1, 2016.
