Singapore has reclaimed its position as the world’s most powerful passport, topping the latest Henley Passport Index with its citizens enjoying visa-free access to 195 destinations out of 227 globally. This accomplishment sets a new record score for the city-state.
France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain now share second place, each with visa-free access to 192 destinations. Additionally, a seven-country group including Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden occupies third place with access to 191 destinations without a prior visa, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The UK maintains its position in fourth place along with Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland, although its visa-free score has decreased to 190 destinations. Meanwhile, the US continues its decline, falling to 8th place with visa-free access to 186 destinations, marking a decade-long slide.

Reflecting on these developments, Dr. Christian H. Kaelin, Chairman of Henley & Partners and the originator of the passport index concept, commented, “The general trend over the past two decades has been towards greater travel freedom. However, the gap between top-ranked countries like Singapore and bottom-ranked countries like Afghanistan has widened significantly.”
The Henley Global Mobility Report highlights that Asia’s influence on global mobility is increasing, with Singapore’s rise underscoring the region’s growing stature in international travel.
