Green Mobility from Manila to Paris

Busy commuters and shoppers got a surprise in Paris this week, a new step in green mobility. Parisians were treated to a fully electric Jeepney which has been cruising the streets of the French capital. It’s the outcome of the collaboration between the global financial services company Allianz and the electro-mobility innovator QEV.
Jeepneys are the most popular means of public transportation in Manila. Known for crowded seating and colorful decorations, Jeepneys have become an ubiquitous symbol of Philippine culture. They are used by 65% of the Philippine population, making them a key pollutant in the region. The idea with this partnership is to take a major pollutant off of the streets of Manila and in the process show Parisians some innovative ideas from the Philippines.

Manila streets are filled with Jeepneys and so taking them from polluting to being green would be a big step in improving the air quality of the Philippine capital and could be an important transit option for the French capital.
